Kallis and Prince complete tough series victory

South Africa gained their second Test series success of the season, but the five-wicket margin doesn't tell the whole story of the third and final day at Cape Town. Jacques Kallis and Ashwell Prince will play much less well and finish with unbeaten centuries, but their brace of fifties represented hours of toil on a surface that had yielded just two other fifty-plus scores. What really gives the full picture of their 117-run stand is the numbers. It took 272 balls and of the 12 boundaries most came when the target reduced and the pressure relaxed. Although the match closed with a series of flowing shots, it was only because of their earlier graft that it was possible. Kallis's fifty took 146 balls and Prince's 132; it took them 93 and 79 balls respectively just to reach 20. They wore the bowlers down, most notably Mohammad Asif who finally showed signs of tiredness as his last spell leaked runs....

New Delhi, India (BANG) - Prince Andrew apparently likes to mingle with the stars no matter where he goes. Even if they're not "A" List Hollywood celebrities, that's okay too. The royal recently made a trip to India this week where he got an exclusive taste of Bollywood. The 46-year-old prince is in India to help strengthen business and economic links with Britain, and was invited for a tour of Yash Raj Studios when he visited the city of Mumbai. Filmmaker Yash Chopra escorted the royal around the movie studio and explained he was impressed with Andrew's knowledge of Bollywood. He told Indian's IBN news, "I was very surprised he discussed Indian films with me. He also spoke to me about the business aspects of filmmaking in India." Following the tour, the royal was treated to a lunch with a host of Bollywood stars, including actors Abhishek Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Bobby Deol, Rani Mukherji, Preity Zinta and Lara Dutta....

Mumbai, Nov 1: Prince Andrew of United Kingdom, who is on a tour of India in his capacity as his country's special representative for International Trade and Investment, today visited filmmaker Yash Chopra's Yashraj Studios here.The veteran director hosted a lunch in his honour, which was attended by several well-known film personalities including actors Abhishek Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, Rani Mukerji, Bobby Deol and young director Karan Johar.The Prince also visited Tata Consultancy Services, pharma major Nicholas Piramal and interacted with children of `Magic Bus', an NGO which works for marginalised children. ....

Britain's Prince Andrew to visit India

New Delhi, Oct 27: India and Britain are set to further intensify their trade and economic relations when Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, comes to India on a week-long visit Sunday. "His Royal Highness said that he was looking forward to his first visit to India as the UK's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment and learning more first hand about new and existing business opportunities in the region," said a statement by the British High Commission. Andrew will visit New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai to promote bilateral trade and investment and to showcase Britain as the preferred destination for Indian investors. He will present the first-ever UK Trade and Investment Business awards in Mumbai Nov 1. These awards recognise the business partnership between India and Britain....

Manslaughter sentence given

A Woodbridge man who pleaded guilty in July to involuntary manslaughter was sentenced to time served and five years of probation Thursday in Prince William Circuit Court. Shirley Lorenzo Carter, 32, pleaded guilty in July for the involuntary manslaughter of Andrew Tuck, 30, whose body was found in his car near Hampton's Landing Marina near Leesylvania State Park in May 2005. Carter was initially charged with murder, but the charge was amended in July due to "evidentiary problems," prosecutors said. On the morning of May 19, 2005, Tuck's body was discovered in a 1995 Toyota Camry parked at the marina. He had been shot to death. Carter, who has been incarcerated since his arrest in May 2005, is one of two men originally charged with Tuck's murder....

Afghan front too unsafe for Prince Harry

LONDON, Oct. 8 (UPI) -- British military officials have said they believe it is too dangerous for Prince Harry to be sent to fight in Afghanistan, the Daily Mail reported Sunday. Senior commanders said they reviewed several scenarios before concluding that the 21-year-old prince should not be deployed to the Afghan front with the Household Cavalry, the newspaper said. They feared for his safety and for the safety of the soldiers around him. The prince, a second lieutenant, was unhappy with the decision and didn't agree that he should be given preferential treatment, the Daily Mail said. The Defense Ministry said Prince Harry would play "as full a part as he can during his Army career, including participating in operations and exercises," the Daily Mail said....

Britain's Prince Andrew says he's impressed with recent nanotechnology developments and believes the field holds even greater promise _ both scientifically and commercially _ in the future. "It would seem that nanotech's potential is seemingly limitless, with applications that can save and prolong life, reduce poverty and hunger," he told a crowd of several hundred people at the nanoTX'06 conference in Dallas. The three-day event, which ended Thursday, brought together scientists, business leaders and politicians to highlight the latest developments in nanotechnology, the science involving the manufacture and manipulation of materials at the molecular or atomic level. IT'S a must win situation for the Uganda Hippos when they take on Zanzibar at the Prince Rwagasole stadium today in the on-going Cecafa U-20 tournament. The Hippos who are lying comfortably in the second position have a chance to go top of group A if they continue with the astonishing form they displayed against Somalia on Tuesday. The Hippos thrashed Somalia 5-0. According to team tactician Frank "Video" Anyau, there will not be any changes from the team that started on Tuesday. He added that the boys are in good shape and just awaiting for the match.
