London: The queen is growing increasingly "concerned" that the Prince of Wales is embarrassing other members of the Royal Family in fighting a public eco war. Senior royal sources said Her Majesty fears his green revolution is leading to tensions within the family. Both Prince Edward and Prince Andrew have been criticised recently for their use of royal flights. It is felt Prince Charles's campaigning is putting others under scrutiny to prove their own green credentials. A senior source said: "There is growing concern in the royal household and in the family itself that the Prince of Wales's worthy determination to leave a green legacy may have a detrimental impact on other members of the royal family. Embarrassed "Some of the more junior members of the family have been embarrassed by it....

The No. 13 Harvard men's hockey team saw its first game action of the season, defeating Prince Edward Island (PEI) 4-3 in a penalty-filled exhibition at the Bright Hockey Center yesterday. The visiting Panthers put up a fight—almost literally—against the Crimson in spite of limping into Cambridge after suffering an 8-1 loss to Dartmouth on Saturday night. The two teams combined for 62 penalty minutes, including 24 in the third period. Sophomore forward Steve Rolecek netted the game-winner for Harvard, one-timing a pass from the endboards from captain Dylan Reese at 4:19 of the third period. After committing three minor penalties and failing to register a shot on goal for the initial six minutes of the game, the Crimson discovered its rhythm in the second half of the first period. Although Harvard did not score on either of its two power play opportunities, Reese put the Crimson on the board just seconds after a Panther penalty expired, driving home freshman center Doug Rogers' blocked shot at 18:25....

Saskatoon father and Prince Albert couple fight over custody of child

REGINA (CP) - An embittered child custody battle playing out in a Saskatchewan family court has developed into a public and emotional tug-of-war as well as a cause celebre for advocates of fathers' rights. It pits a biological father, accused of being nothing more than a sperm donor unfit to parent, against guardians who say they've bonded with the child. At the centre is Liam Edward, a five-month-old boy born to a mother who saw herself as "unable to parent the child" and so gave him over to the couple who have him now. "We never thought that it would get this big when we started out," says Rick Fredrickson, the biological father from Saskatoon. "We just had absolutely no idea that it would last this long and go this far." Liam was born April 27 to Oriole Bird, a woman who court documents show was a former employee at Fredrickson's courier business and someone he had an on-and-off sexual relationship with a year earlier....

Webb sets the stage for a Sunday stroll / Birdie on 18 opens 5-shot lead

The 18th green at Blackhawk Country Club's Lakeside course offered a high-energy scene Saturday. Fans crammed the small grandstand behind the green and jostled for position along the ropes. Across the water, more spectators watched from the patio of the clubhouse restaurant. It was a cool stage for players tussling for the lead -- big crowd, island green, finishing hole -- as Morgan Pressel and Karrie Webb arrived in the final two groups. Pressel trailed Webb by two shots when she strolled down No. 18 and found her ball in a fairway bunker. Then Pressel plopped her next shot into the water. Soon thereafter, Webb rolled home a 6-foot putt for birdie. And -- poof! -- there went visions of Sunday drama. Today's final round still could offer 72nd-hole theatrics, but Saturday's sequence of events made it all the more unlikely....

Marketing who we are

Although four years have passed, the image remains burned into my memory. I was standing on the shores of Lake Louise in Alberta's Rocky Mountain country. I remember thinking, “Wow, I wish all the people that I care about could be standing beside me and see this." Later on that same trip, I had a wondrous gondola ride up the side of a mountain outside of Banff. A year or so later, I recall the awe-inspiring scenery Mother Nature had on display while driving up to the famous Whistler resort in British Columbia. Just this summer, my arm was twisted and I made a quick trip to southern Ontario for a few rounds of golf and good cheer. The countryside around Brantford, Cambridge and Niagara Falls was bountiful and pleasing to the eye. And, for the most part, I met all kinds of friendly people....
