Prince William And Harry Don't Want Celebrity-Filled Xmas Party
Posted Friday, December 01, 2006 1:09:54 PM by Blog57 Team
Sources say that Princes William and Prince Harry have banned celebrities from their Christmas party in an attempt to keep the festive event private. The young princes are organizing a pre-Christmas celebration for their friends at London's trendy Crystal club on Wednesday. A source told Britain's Daily Star newspaper, "Wills is expected to turn up with his girlfriend Kate Middleton and Harry is arranging for his girlfriend Chelsy Davy to fly to London from South Africa ahead of the festive frolics. The red carpet will be out and limos have been arranged. Ice sculptures are on order and it's all very exciting." The source added, "A night like this will cost more than $265,000, so it's not a surprise that the world and his wife will want to attend." But William, 24, and Harry, 22, want to enjoy the party without worrying about unwanted publicity, so they are making the guest list strictly friends only....

We're entranced by mind games, magical stunts

Magicians work on the boundaries. Their skill in pushing blatant deception toward the level of art has always given them a sometimes sinister, sometimes seedy potential to exploit. Brazenness is bonded to guile, gracefulness to aggression, comedy to pathos. As old and primal as any of the performing arts -- cavemen, if they'd had them, would have found a way to pluck coins out of a volunteer's ears -- magic comes and goes but never goes away. It's like a virus that vanishes underground for a while, mutates into another form and then resurfaces somewhere else. No sooner do the gaudy Vegas-amped productions of David Copperfield and Siegfried & Roy give way to the beguiling trances of Cirque du Soleil than the "Harry Potter" craze comes along to turn magic into a matrix and metaphor for growing up....

London, Oct 16 (ANI): Prince Harry's girlfriend Chelsy Davy and the American President George W Bush may be as apart as chalk and cheese, but Harry feels that his ladylove is queen of gaffes just like the US President who is well known for his faux pas. The royal even has a poster of the Bush's bloopers on his wall to remind him of Chelsy. According to the Sun, the blonde student's "Chelsyisms" were revealed by her brother and two girlfriends in Cape Town, at a farewell party for Chelsy, who is leaving her home to study in the UK. Chelsy's brother Shaun, 20, said: "My sister is famous for her Chelsyisms. Harry always says she is as gaffe-prone as George Bush - but much better looking. "Last month she said, 'Shaun, are woolly mammoths extinct?' I said, 'You can't be serious'....

No Afghanistan tour of duty for Prince Harry

LONDON: Prince Harry will not be allowed to fight on the front line in Afghanistan, The Mail on Sunday newspaper said, citing senior sources in the prince's regiment. Harry, third in line to the throne, reportedly threatened to quit the army if he was blocked from active service due to safety fears and any such decision is likely to infuriate the 22-year-old. Although a formal decision has yet to be made, sources in the Household Cavalry told the tabloid that they thought it was too dangerous for him to deploy in Afghanistan. The southern Helmand province, where the bulk of about 4,500 British troops in Afghanistan are operating, has seen fierce fighting this year as soldiers take on resurgent Taliban rebels. Senior officers reckon the intensity of Taliban attacks is so severe that they could not risk a constitutional crisis by putting Harry's life on the line, The Mail on Sunday said....

Drunken school days for Prince Harry?

Writer Tom Sykes says Prince Harry started drinking when he was sent to the British boarding school Eton College. According to pagesix.com, Sykes says that at Eton liquor is a part of the reward system and a special privilege for boys. In his new drinking memoir What Did I Do Last Night? A Drunkard's Tale, he writes, "In England, the legal drinking age is 18, but at Eton College you are allowed in the school bar, which is called Tap at 16. The school circumvented the licensing laws by claiming Tap was a private club." "Technically, you were only allowed two pints of beer. In reality, you had to fall over before they cut you off," he further writes. Sykes was kicked out of Eton before he could graduate because of an alcohol-related incident....
