Newspapers also sport a section on the latest updates, gossip, scores and upcoming games. There are weekly and monthly magazines that are dedicated totally to sports and sports news.  The internet is a fantastic tool for the sports fan on the move.  With one click of the mouse you can have the latest score update.

Posted Sunday, January 21, 2007 1:08:51 PM by Blog57 Team
The Pittsburgh Steelers yesterday denied a report that they have settled on Minnesota Vikings assistant Mike Tomlin as the replacement for head coach Bill Cowher. Tomlin also denied the report, first posted on SI.com, Sports Illustrated's Web site, and later on ESPN.com. The Associated Press later said that not only has the job not been offered but there have been no contract negotiations. Both Steelers owner Dan Rooney and president Art Rooney III refused to comment last night. Tomlin told ESPN that the report was untrue and that he had not spoken with the Rooneys yesterday. Later, he told Fox Sports the Steelers still are weighing the decision. Tomlin, an NFL coordinator for only one season, impressed the Steelers with his desire for the job, knowledge about defense, work ethic and organizational ability during two interviews over the last two weeks....

Posted Friday, November 10, 2006 7:19:09 PM by Blog57 Team
The news last Friday from the U.S. Department of Education that cheerleaders in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference and elsewhere will have to cheer at an equal number of boys' and girls' basketball games this season and into the future should be welcomed by high school sports enthusiasts. The federal Office for Civil Rights investigated 12 of the 20 STAC schools after a parent complained that cheerleaders were only attending football and boys' basketball games. A spokesman for the agency told the Associated Press that resolution agreements were reached with the schools after the agency found the schools violated Title IX guidelines by not providing equal support for events by both genders. Title IX prohibits sex discrimination in athletics and other student activities and requires equal benefits for both boys' and girls' athletics....

Sports Soundoff

This is Sports Sound Off, where you can speak your mind on anything you wish. Because of the large number of calls received, not all can be published. Ranking too high -- This is one word for all those motormouth Auburn fans: Overrated. Reversal of fortunes -- I see where Auburn got caught impersonating a top 10 team again. Oh well, that's par for the course for Tuberville and the Auburn Tigers. They can't deal with ٠well, you know what it is. I just wonder what the Press-Register is going to say about this team they've been backing all year. Now the Iron Bowl looks pretty winnable for Alabama. Miscounting fingers -- I guess Arkansas' coach could have held up four fingers yesterday, but he has too much class....

Only 6 traditional sports allowed
Posted Friday, September 08, 2006 5:03:49 AM by Blog57 Team
THE Philippines? bid to defend its Southeast Asian Games overall championship got a much-needed boost after host Thailand yesterday said that only six traditional sports would be featured in the regional sporting festival next year. Athletics chief Go Teng Kok relayed the good news after the Olympic Committee of Thailand insisted that most of the internationally recognized sports will be featured in the SEAG calendar. The decision came as a pleasant surprise since it has been the practice of host countries, including Thailand, to bat for the inclusion of sports, where they are traditionally strong in a bid to bag the overall championship. ?This is a bit of good news for the Philippines. With only six traditional sports in the calendar, we have a very, very good chance of defending the title,? Go said in an e-mail message....
